The country of Poland is the homeland for some of the most brutal death metal bands on the planet. Hell-Born is one of those devilish entities, and they have just unleashed their latest blistering effort entitled Cursed Infernal Steel. Here is a recently interview we did with co-founder Baal, who was once within the membership of the mighty Behemoth. Read on for demonic enlightenment...

Overall, how does Cursed Infernal Steel compare to your previous releases?
It makes them all sound like shit! What can I say? The main concept behind each next album of ours is to crush its ancestor.

Where did you come up with your ideas for the lyrics this time around?
Something like a month before entering the studio. I always need to have all the music finished to work on the lyrics. I listen, feel, think and write. Of course I always have the basic concept for the whole album. I just need the sounds to make the concept come to life.

How did your tour with Forest Of Impaled in the States go, and what were your overall impressions of the metal scene out here?
Lots of people fascinated with Black Metal, lots of nu-metal freaks, hopefully good old boys didn't forget how to bang their fuckin' heads! People are very cool and friendly around there, it's been a hell of fun! We'd love to come over again!

Is there any plan for Hell-Born to return to the States, and if so, who will you be touring with?
So far no plans, we've been doing some thinking about touring with INCANTATION at the end of the 2006, but we couldn't find enough money for that.

Describe a live Hell-Born show for those of us who have yet to see you play?
Hell Fuckin' Metal!!! Wild, screamin', headbangin' and TRUE!

Two of your members used to be in Behemoth. What was that experience like, and do you still keep in touch with those guys?
Yes, we are good friends with all of the guys in BEHEMOTH, we go to see each other's concerts and hang out. What kind of experience was it? Just like now - playin' fuckin' metal! That's what I'm in it for, you know. Years later I can say I am a part of metal's history, and that's pretty cool.

How serious are your views on Satanism, and what does the overall ideology mean to you?
I'm serious in everything I do; I don't have time for bullshit. I'm what Zakk Wylde calls "Black Label". I give always 100 percent of myself. In the early days I was more into searching for knowledge, nowadays I'm focused on war against Christ. I refuse to live by the book, I refuse to serve and bow down! I choose to stand and fight! With my arts I am the fist in the face of god!

What do you think about bands such as Graveland and Infernum and their NSBM politics and views?
Fuck'em all. I hate politics in music; my family fought the Nazis during WW2. All kinds of mass ideology are dangerous and enslave the free will. I hate people in general and I don't give a shit about my nationality.

Is there any country you have not played yet that you would like to do a show at?
South America, Canada, Australia, Scandinavia and Japan.

How do you feel about the infamous show Gorgoroth performed in Poland? Does your band ever encounter any censorship problems?
No it doesn't. I don't give a fuck about censorship, and censorship doesn't give a fuck about me either. Some stupid fuck made a lot of noize about that GORGOROTH show. I think it was nothing more than a coincidence. We have much more blaspheming and politically incorrect shows here, that was just some well-known band and a good, well-known club. That's all.
