Fifi LaRue - Fifi LaRue review

FIFI LARUE
Fifi LaRue
Self-released CD

Updated: 03/11/08

Many within the City Of Angeles have encountered Fifi LaRue and his band performing their inimitable stage show at noted venues such as The Key Club and The Whisky. Also known as The Gothic Killer Clown Of Rock ‘N Roll, one of Fifi’s recent appearances was competing on the reality show The Next Great American Band. And now, Fifi and his crew have unleashed a self-titled collection of songs that should really chill the hard rockin’ masses to the very core.

Influenced by rock legends such as Kiss and Alice Cooper, Fifi LaRue presents an entertaining take on the horror rock genre. Opening the disc with the deadly infectious strains of Welcome To My Flying Circus, Fifi and band present such killer soon to be cult classics such as Kiss To Kill, Mannequin Love, and Rock Doll. Even the ballads Brandi and So Blue Without You are laced with a crazed sincerity that is mesmerizing to behold. There are a few interesting covers thrown in for good measure, including People Are Strange and an especially daring version of the John Lennon classic Imagine. This is trashy rock and roll that is absolutely timeless, filled with enough thrills and spills to make for a highly demented listening experience. Fifi LaRue is ready to take on the world now, and his music is the big kick in the ass the current music scene needs. Rock it! Info: http://www.myspace.com/fifilarue1! (Kenneth Morton)
