Wheels Of Time Custard review

WHEELS OF TIME
Custard

Fans of bands such as Helloween and Gamma Ray will charge relentlessly towards the nearest record store when they hear the electrifying true metal compositions of Custard from Germany. Formed in 1987, the group has endured quite a few lineup changes and remains relatively obscure outside of their home country. Wheels Of Time could change all that, and place the oddly named Custard near the top of the power metal heap. The musicianship in the band is first rate, featuring guitar hero axework and a dynamo rhythm section. Guido Brieke has a tremendous presence, delivering staggering vocals that truly soar. While Custard has contributed tracks on tribute albums ranging from Accept, Scorpions and even Abba, their own masterworks on Wheels Of Time are definite classics in the making, with Sunrise, Fade Out, Inner Void, Chance, and the vibrant title track being highlights. It’s been five years since their last effort, and here’s hoping it’s not another long amount of time before we hear from these talented musicians again. Check out the revolutionary new Custard release and prepare to bang your head at a frenetic, breakneck pace! (Kenneth Morton)
