Corey Crowder Self-released EP Updated: 03/21/06
In the Internet age of Myspace and Pure Volume, a struggling musician/band almost doesn’t need a record label to present their music to the public at large. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Corey Crowder from South Carolina has self-released a series of recordings on his own, and has recently toured in direct support of signed acts Tokyo Rose and Brandtson. Starting All Over is Crowder’s fifth effort, an EP consisting of six stunning, wistful tracks. Although Starting All Over features a full band, the new songs still retain the acoustic-based intimacy Crowder has become so well known for.
Tracks such as Taking Back Roads and Open Doors, Open Eyes demonstrate just how wondrous Crowder’s songs can be – sweeping, melancholy, and ultimately inspiring. The vocals are gentle yet mesmerizing, meshing well with the sweet and hypnotic musical soundscapes. The obvious comparisons to Dashboard Confessional will be made, but it’s obvious that Crowder has timely references that go well beyond current trends. Starting All Over is an album that will appeal to many who appreciate well-written music and deeply reflective lyrical content. Joining the immensely talented Corey Crowder on this CD are John Thomas Taylor on drums, Logan Belcher on bass and guitar, and Stephen Hammond on keyboards. It will be exciting to see what the future holds in store for Mr. Crowder. Info and music: www.coreycrowder.net
