December - EP by Chase Coy review

DECEMBER - EP
Chase Coy
Self-released EP

Updated: 06/18/09

When I was compiling my Top Ten 10 CD releases of 2008 list, Look How Far We've Come by Chase Coy landed in at Number 11. An acoustic solo artist who can really make you feel the words he sings, Coy's songs are filled with a sweet melancholy that's both inspiring and moving. With his follow-up EP December, the artist continues to progress, presenting a new work that is intricate and deeply personal. The vocals are soothing and the guitar work gentle - yet the longing is there and will leave you missing your own loved one.

December documents a couple deeply in love, forced to live apart due to college and other responsibilities. There is a hope and longing found within the three songs that will bring the tear to an eye of even the most cynical of music listening. There is nothing fake or formulaic here - the songs are from the heart and will tug at your emotions. Folks who like Bright Eyes and Backseat Goodbye will absolutely fall in love with Chase Coy's breathtaking compositions. The three tunes contained on the EP are December, Eight-Dollar Engagement Rings, and A Lovely Sound. Be sure to check out December and the many other Chase Coy recordings now available on Itunes.
