Battery Night Self-released EP Updated: 06/16/09
Jake Trevino makes up Battery Night, a techno-pop project filled with passion and conviction. The seven songs found within The Shine Your Light EP are well thought out, featuring captivating rhythms, thoughtful lyrics, and expressive synthesized vocals. The one-man band techno genre is picking up big time, and Trevino certainly has what it takes to bring everything up to the next level. Citing the Starting Line and the Medic Droid as personal influences, fans of those bands are sure to enjoy the tuneful reveries Trevino has to offer.
I Know People In Italy is a definite highlight, the vocals filled with a sense of sincerity. Take This However is a track with clever instrumental layers, an underlying dance beat, and dream-like lyrical inflections. Holly J is haunting and compelling while closing track Dillon’s Song is a somber, devastating song that will stay with you long after the EP spins to an end.
