The Daily Grind by Anima review

THE DAILY GRIND
Anima
Metal Blade Records

Updated: 12/06/08

One of the younger bands recently signed to Metal Blade Records, Anima from Germany present a brutal take on the death metal/deathcore genre, performing ferocious material that would do even the veteran musicians on the scene proud (or maybe kill them off as they try to play it). The Daily Grind is Anima’s second CD (their first for Metal Blade), and it’s sure to send a whole new generation of headbangers searching for the nearest pit. With members in their late teens, Anima tear into their music with a relentless aggression, causing destruction to all that stand in the way. It might even be dangerous to play this one at maximum volume in the headphones on your IPOD.

Opening up with Behind The Mask, the fury breaks loose and the listener’s senses will never be the same again. There Is Something Vicious is an outstanding cut, demonstrating the very reason why the determined Anima was signed in the first place. The title track is another memorable piece of work – five minutes of grinding devastation that is thrilling to behold. Other tracks of distinction include A Wrong Person To Trust, Isolated, and Ravaged By Disease. Going well beyond intense, The Daily Grind by Anima is the future of extreme music as we know it today. Be sure to snag your copy and try not to be hazardous to yourself and others as you listen to pure sonic terrorism. Not your parent’s metal record – Anima is a whole new beast entirely… (Kenneth Morton)
