4DBLING Demo Review

12 TRACK DEMO
4DBLING
Self-Released

Updated: 08/08/07

4Dbling aka White-e is a hip-hop artist from Hockinson, WA who may look like a scene kid, but whose dope raps are seriously lethal. Espousing the joys and horrors of drugs as well as the trials and tribulations of being a scenester, 4Dbling has come up with a wildly subversive formula that is overpowering. At press time, there was a free 12-track demo available for download, and here are a few songs which really stood out…

Pass It serves as a brief and welcoming introduction to the psychedelic world of 4Dbling where White-e sings, “You could really hate me though, but turn up the stereo.” I Liked You Better In Your Pictures On My Space will make you want to crank the volume up to ten with its razor-sharp infectiousness. So Scene is a dark and revealing take on scene culture that is absolutely gripping in scope. Cookie Dough exudes a wild sexuality that would seduce just about any listener with its playful beats and suggestive lyrics. The track destined for infamy is definitely Drugs where White-e says, “You know, some people might ask why we gotta live like this. And I just tell ‘em, it’s the only way. I take them drugs and get fucked. I pop them pills and get fucked up…”

4Dbling dares to take the listener into a darkly luminous (and some may say disturbing) world that may be unsettling yet ultimately seductive. A stunning work from an artist we’ll be hearing a lot more from in the future. White-e of 4Dbling could be the Jim Carroll of this new scene generation. Info: http://www.myspace.com/4dbling!
